1）黄志明要求总理别安排政府职务给他？
全国职工总会秘书长、人民行动党惹兰加由区议员黄志明向黄循财总理提出，不要在政府中为他安排职务。他星期二（5月6日）下午以个人名义发声明时说，黄总理已同意考虑他的请求。他说，接下来五年将专注于国会议员职责，以及职总秘书长的工作。同时，黄志明也为多年前在一场教育部对话会上的不当言辞道歉，并为他与30亿元洗钱案的“福建帮”成员苏海金的合照澄清。
2）新加坡大选未来会有更多无党籍候选人？
本届大选，无党籍候选人表现亮眼。陈伟洋在蒙巴登单选区获36.16%选票，创下自1972年大选以来无党籍候选人的最高得票率。劳家强在拉丁马士区的得票率则是23.47%。两人都保住了1万3500元的按柜金。他们的表现优于部分小政党，反映选民对非党派人士日益开放的态度。虽然资源有限，但陈伟洋和劳家强不排除继续参选，并会持续通过社媒发声。

来自美国的枢机主教普雷沃斯特，当选新任罗马天主教教宗，名号“良十四世（Leo XIV）”。
当地时间5月8日傍晚，罗马梵蒂冈西斯廷教堂的烟囱于冒出白烟，表示133位枢机主教已通过秘密会议选出第267任教宗。约一小时后，新当选的良十四世出现在梵蒂冈圣彼得大教堂的阳台，与信众致意。
现年69岁的良十四世，是首位美国人教宗，1955年在美国伊利诺伊州出生，晋铎后在秘鲁服务多年，并在修会内承担管理职责，拥有美国和秘鲁双国籍。他于2014年被前任教宗方济各任命为秘鲁奇克拉约教区主教，2023年升任枢机主教，被视为方济各改革路线的延续者。

Since Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., son of the former dictator, was elected president in 2022, his approval rating has plunged to 25%, a historic low. Meanwhile, his vice president, Sara Duterte—the daughter of former president Rodrigo Duterte—has seen her popularity soar. Once political allies, the two have now become bitter enemies, with Sara even publicly issuing death threats.
Behind this power struggle lies the harsh reality of over 300 political dynasties monopolizing the Philippine political arena. These hereditary elites still control 87% of the country’s provinces. Even more telling, this infighting reflects the broader geopolitical rivalry between China and the U.S. in Southeast Asia—while the Duterte family leans pro-China, the Marcos family is pro-America—turning this island nation into a chessboard for great power competition.
